Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and former journalist Lauren Sánchez are getting married in Italy this week, and a star-studded list of celebrities was seen in Venice for the festivities.
Wedding location details have been under wraps, but Italian papers and Venetian locals predicted it would take place Friday on San Giorgio Maggiore, which is known for the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore. Bezos and Sanchez invited some 200 guests to celebrate, according to media reports.
This will be the second marriage for both Bezos, 61, and Sánchez, 55. Bezos was previously married to philanthropist Mackenzie Scott, but the pair divorced in 2019. Sánchez’s first marriage was to Patrick Whitesell, the executive chair of talent firm Endeavor. They also split in 2019.
Ahead of the nuptials, movie stars, TV personalities and business titans were pictured around Venice. Some were seen arriving on Thursday at the Madonna dell’Orto church for the first of several planned events. Some of the more recognizable names seen in photos have included Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Brady, Bill Gates, Diane von Furstenberg, Usher, President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner.
The sudden arrival of such high-power stars has led to protests from Venice locals and the creation of the “No Space for Bezos” campaign. That push comes amid broader pushback against tourists across Europe, with some blaming them for increased costs and rent.
