A majority of grand jurors did not approve indicting him on an additional count of lying to Congress, according to court papers — an unusual development since grand juries rarely…

Don’t let JD Vance silence our independent journalism On September 15, Vice President JD Vance attacked The Nation while hosting The Charlie Kirk Show. In a clip seen millions of times, Vance singled out The Nation in a dog whistle to his far-right followers. Predictably, a torrent of abuse followed. Throughout our 160 years of publishing fierce, independent journalism, we’ve operated with the belief that dissent is the highest form of patriotism. We’ve been criticized by both Democratic and Republican officeholders—and we’re pleased that the White House is reading The Nation. As long as Vance is free to criticize us…
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol on Thursday said the company is planning on closing underperforming locations, including those where the coffee chain is “unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect,” and will cut 900 jobs. The overhaul will cost $1 billion, according to a Thursday regulatory filing. Washington — President Trump on Thursday is expected to sign a deal brokered by his administration to keep TikTok operating in the U.S., according to a White House official. On Monday, a senior White House official said Mr. Trump would declare that the deal is a “qualified divestiture” and satisfies a law passed by Congress that requires TikTok’s parent company to divest or face a ban. The declaration is expected to come in Mr. Trump’s fifth executive order pushing back enforcement of the bipartisan law by 120 days to allow for an agreement on how the app operates in the U.S. to be…

General Assembly, demanding an investigation into back-to-back mishaps with an escalator, a teleprompter and a sound system — for which the U.N. is at least partially blaming the White House. “A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday — Not one, not two, but…
Washington — A branch of the National Archives released a mostly unredacted version of Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s military records to Nicholas De Gregorio, an ally of Jack Ciattarelli, her GOP opponent in the New Jersey governor’s race. The disclosure potentially violates the Privacy Act of 1974 and exemptions established under the Freedom of Information Act. The documents, which were also obtained by CBS News, appear to show that the National Personnel Records Center, a wing of the National Archives and Records Administration charged with maintaining personnel records for service members and civil servants of the U.S. government, released Sherrill’s full…
