Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Bermuda, forecasters said Saturday. Fernand is the sixth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and it comes on the heels of Hurricane Erin, which formed in a similar area on Aug. 15. As of 5 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday, Fernand was located about 405 miles south-southeast of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said. Five people are dead after a tour bus with more than 50 passengers lost control and rolled over on a major highway in western New York on Friday, state police said. The bus was traveling back to New York City from Niagara Falls, police said. Kilmar Abrego Garcia was released from Putnam County Jail in Tennessee on Friday and has been reunited with his family while he awaits trial, according to his attorney. It’s the latest development in the case of a man who was mistakenly removed from the U.S. to an El Salvador prison where he alleges he was tortured. Initially detained by immigration officials in March before being sent to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia returned to the U.S. in June to face criminal charges that were filed in Tennessee.
