An 18-year-old woman has died of complications from a legal second-trimester abortion at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic, according to a newly released autopsy. The Larimer County Coroner’s office concluded in the report that “Alexis Lynn Arguello died of complications of surgical pregnancy termination,” including a “probable amniotic fluid embolism,” after the February 2025 procedure in Fort Collins. Ms. Arguello was 21 weeks and six days pregnant when she died at a hospital after receiving a blood transfusion, the report stated. “She experienced refractory shock and multiorgan failure and died,” wrote Joseph K. White, a forensic pathologist. The pro-life groups…
Shrey Parikh felt his body shake from nerves and doubts every time he walked to the microphone at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, the final test of a six-year competitive spelling career marked by triumph and heartbreak that he knew could end at any moment. Then he listened to pronouncer Jacques Bailly, and his dour body language vanished as he nodded vigorously, his tell that, yes, he knew the words he was asked to spell. All of them. “Once I get the word,” Shrey said, “I’m not really nervous anymore, because then it’s all in my control.” Shrey arrived as…
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said Thursday that federal agents will arrest an anti-ICE protester who shouted at an officer that he and his family would be “all dead.” The man was caught on video shouting at a protest outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center at an officer who was manning a riot line confronting demonstrators. “I’ll kill your whole [expletive] family,” the man shouted in an expletive-laden tirade. “Your children, your wife, all dead.” “I have your face,” he continued. “You’re dead. Dead. Mr. Blanche told Fox News that deserved punishment. “That’s a federal crime,” he…
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A Blue Origin rocket exploded during a test at the launch pad Thursday night, shaking nearby homes and briefly painting the sky orange. Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin said its New Glenn rocket exploded during an engine-firing test. No one was hurt, according to officials at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. “It’s too early to know the root cause but we’re already working to find it,” Bezos said via X. “Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it.” Emergency crews remained more than an hour later, but officials…
The Biden administration’s effort to inject “gender identity” into Title IX was already pretty dead, but now it’s really dead. The progressive groups attempting to resuscitate the 2024 regulatory overhaul finally threw in the towel this month, entering a series of joint agreements to drop their appeals and have their cases dismissed. The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday issued a notice of dismissal in the case brought by four states – Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina – as well as conservative groups including Defending Education and the Independent Women’s Network. Sarah Parshall Perry, Defending Education vice…
Federal prosecutors announced charges Thursday against a man they say robbed two New York City stores at gunpoint in January, walking away with nearly $130,000 worth of Pokemon cards. Andy David Palacios Ortiz faces one count of robbery and another of conspiracy to commit robbery. In one Manhattan store, the robbers walked away with $115,995 in Pokemon merchandise. Another robbery in Queens netted $11,700 worth of Pokemon merchandise. The cards, which depict fantastical characters and can be used in “fights” between decks of cards, are going through a craze, with collectors scouring packs looking for sought-after — and expensive —…
The Supreme Court on Thursday sided with a Black death row inmate in Mississippi who challenged his conviction, claiming the prosecutor wrongly eliminated Black jurors from the pool that found him guilty of capital murder. In a 5-4 decision authored by Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, the Supreme Court majority said Terry Pitchford’s lawyer did not have proper opportunity to challenge the prosecutor’s removal of minority jurors from hearing and deciding his fate. “After a prosecutor asserts race-neutral reasons for a peremptory strike, the defense counsel must at least have an opportunity to argue that the asserted race-neutral reasons were not…
Several performers have pulled out of a concert series for The Great American State Fair on the National Mall. Freedom 250, the public-private partnership group coordinating events in Washington, announced the musical lineup Wednesday. But Milli Vanilli singer Jodie Rocco told The Associated Press that neither she nor any other group members had been asked to perform, saying they were “shocked” to see their name on the lineup. Morris Day posted on Instagram that he and his R&B band, The Time, would not appear, and rapper Young MC said he would not perform, questioning whether the event was truly nonpartisan…
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin told hunger-striking migrants to allow themselves to be deported back home if they don’t like the food they’re being served at an ICE detention facility in New Jersey. The hunger strike at Delaney Hall has become the latest flash point in the immigration debate, with protesters clashing with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel trying to come and go from the Newark facility. New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said state health inspectors tried to conduct an inspection Thursday but were only granted limited access. She said that raised “serious questions about what ICE is trying…
A former CIA official is accused of stealing more than $40 million in gold bars and stashing them inside his Virginia home, prosecutors said. Court records show that David J. Rush, who was a senior CIA official with a top-secret clearance, also hoarded $2 million in cash in a storage unit near his residence and had 35 luxury watches, mostly Rolexes, in his possession when the FBI conducted a raid on May 18. Mr. Rush faces charges of criminal theft of public money for a scheme that authorities said started in November. He is scheduled to appear Friday in federal…
